Tales of Serpent Clan: Chapter One

For those of you who were tantalized by the prologue, here is the long awaited Chapter One! Here is a little bit from it :
Icepelt climbed over the ravine, her tail twitching with excitement. Yarrowstar has finally let me lead the dawn patrol. she thought, I'm not the jumpy apprentice I used to be. She looked over the pine trees that lay in Duskclan territory and flicked her tail to signal to the other members of the patrol, Greywhisker, Maplepaw, Dreamheart and Ashflower. "I think this may be one of your last patrols as a warrior, Dreamheart." mewed Greywhisker, pointing his tail towards Dreamheart's swollen underbelly. Icepelt nodded in agreement It won't be long until she goes to the nursery, Icepelt thought and continued along the border. Icepelt caught Rootclan's earthy scent and paused to mark the border. Greywhisker and Maplepaw did the same and they continued toward the Wet tree. The large oak stood alone in a small clearing, its low branches were where the Clan leaders sit and watch over the Gathering. The Wet tree's roots were all visible, as if the earth was washed away many moons ago. Ashflower stiffened and opened her mouth, breathing in a fresh scent. "A Nightclan patrol is approaching." she growled.
